Many visitors to Santorini leave with a treasured piece of artwork to remind them of the magical time they spent on the island. There’s something about the way the light falls on the whitewashed buildings and of course the world-famous sunset. Sometimes a photograph just doesn’t do Santorini justice. Don’t leave without a piece of stunning Santorini art. Tzamia-Krystalla Gallery is one of the best places to find art in Santorini (as well as Earth and Water Pottery and the Santorini Arts Factory/Tomato Factory).

The gallery has a great ambience

You’ll find the Tzamia-Krystalla gallery close to the old port in Fira, not far from the Archaeological Museum. It has a magnificent view of the caldera. So try and tear your eyes away from the view for a while and get away from the crowds in this welcoming space. Many customers only plan on having a quick browse. However they end up staying for much longer when they realise the quality of the arts and crafts on display.

The Origins Of The Gallery

The gallery was opened in 1995 by Nikos Graftas and well known ceramicist Manousos Chalkiadakis. Their mission was to promote Greek contemporary art around the world. It was founded in Chanios, Crete but moved to Santorini in 2008. The name  actually means glasses and crystals, due to the fact that the business originally cut and processed these materials since 1948.

Ceramic sculptures and paintings

Here are just some of the positive things visitors have to say on Tripadvisor:

“While in Santorini, art lovers should stop by the Tzamia-Krystalla gallery. Beautiful paintings by many local, accomplished painters are on display. I fell in love with an impressionist painting of a sun-filled interior of a Greek cave house – just perfect! It was professionally packed and delivered in a very short time. Finally the owners were knowledgable, friendly and very helpful. The entire experience was a highlight of my Greek excursion and as a result I highly recommend visiting the gallery. (gnjefferies59)

“This art gallery is beautifully presented with inspiring pieces of art and pottery. It is really unique. Leon was very knowledgable and was able to tell me about the different artists, potters, and their work. I certainly recommend a visit.” (Laurie G)
